The main project objective is to develop relevant and high – quality competences of early staged researchers – Ph.D. students, students of master´s and bachelor´s degrees and also other adults, employees, entrepreneurs etc. The main project objective will be achieved by development of a course focused on preparation and management of innovation (research and development, educational) projects.  The course will pay special attention to practical skills and hands on experience. It will include case studies, examples and learning by doing in particular. High-quality competences of the students will be developed with the use of innovative teaching methods, tools and innovative up to date content.

The main objective will be supported by the following sub-objectives:

  • – incorporate the latest methods and tools into the course
  • – develop students´ practical skills meeting the demand of labour market and R&D sector
  • – support teachers´ and lecturers´ competence in interactive training
  • – enable self- study and education to everyone,
  • – promote lifelong learning in order to increase employability
  • – facilitate modernisation and quality improvement in education and training through international cooperation and best practice exchange among universities and companies

Project output

Innovation project management course incl. e-learning support

The course is training-based, focusing on practical aspects of project management and innovation issues which are faced in companies and in R&D sector. Teaching materials, textbooks, workbooks, ppt presentations, examples, templates and other materials were elaborated to enhance learning and teaching process. Special attention was paid to distance learning with the aim to facilitate performance of practical tasks remotely.

The Course is directly transferable into education and training at universities as well as training organisations.

The Course consists of:

  • Kit of educational materials can be used separately or as a course (PDF materials, text files, presentations, case studies, etc.)
  • E-learning Course (Open Access)

Rationale
Project management skills and competences have been more and more required by the employers in almost all sectors of economy, science, technology and services. The project responds to the growing need for professionals able to effectively manage innovations both at universities/research centres and in companies.

Impact
Graduates will acquire all the know-how necessary for the practical activities in the management of innovation. The course includes practical tasks, providing instructions for the solution of specific problems of practice. Graduates will be able to use the acquired skills and competences both in enterprises (industry, services) and at universities (R&D sector). This will increase the employability of the students on the labour market, attract young people to innovations and support the utilization of R&D results in economies at the same time.

VSB – Technical University of Ostrava is a public institution of higher education which provides tertiary education in more than one hundred accredited educational programmes in engineering, IT, technology, economics and business related branches. A wide range of high quality, Czech and English taught programmes are offered within seven Faculties and two all-University Programmes. Currently, around 15,000 students are enrolled at the university. Each year the university welcomes around 1400 international students.

The Faculty of Economics is one of the biggest faculty of VSB-TUO. Today it has more than 3,000 students and around 200 academic employees. The Faculty offers three types of degrees: Bachelor’s, Master’s and postgraduate programmes. In conjunction with Liverpool John Moores University, the Faculty offers prestigious three-year MBA studies. The international focus of the Faculty allows tuition to keep up to date with the latest developments in economic theory and managerial practice.

Department of European Integration, which is involved in the Project, was established in 2004 in response to the accession of the CR to the European Union. The role of the Department is to train economists, managers and specialists focusing on issues of European integration and international dimension of economic theory and economic relations. The Department’s teaching activities focused on project and grant management applied in real practice by private and public sector entities in a regional, national, European and global context.

The Innovation Support Centre is a specialised organisational unit of the VSB-TUO responsible for developmental activities in the field of science-industry collaboration, knowledge transfer and career development of students and graduates. The Centre co-operates closely with individual departments as well as other units of the university, research organisations and public sector institutions. It consists of three specific parts – Projects Support Centre, Entrepreneurship and Career Centre and R&D Results Commercialisation. The main activities include:

– Integration of the university into research projects. The Centre looks for suitable projects and programmes, which can be attractive for collaborative activities of the university, and conducts collaborative projects;

– Entrepreneurship support, programs for young entrepreneurs and star ups, internships, internationalisation of business

– Support to IPR commercialisation and operation of the business incubator.

The University of Cantabria (Spain) is a modern public institution whose main purpose is to contribute to social progress through a firm commitment to teaching and scientific excellence. UC consists of 1,230 researchers and 12,267 students. It has 5 Research Institutes, 3 Foundations and 1 business incubator, as well as 162 R+D groups from 32 departments. The pursuit of international excellence is divided into the specialization areas of Biotechnology, Information and Communication Technology, Climate action and Environment, Resource efficiency and Raw materials, Secure, Clean and Efficient energy, and Advanced Manufacturing and Processing.

UC has an extensive experience in international research projects and programmes, participating in more than 100 projects both in the Seventh Framework Program (FP7, 2007-2013) and in the Horizon 2020 calls. With a strong track record in assisting international consortia in proposal preparation, contract negotiation, project implementation and communication, UC’s European Projects Office personnel offers professional support along the whole life cycle of an EU project.

Regarding student and staff mobility, the University has signed 216 agreements with European Universities (Erasmus programme), 64 with Latin-American institutions, 8 with universities in the United States and 1 with an Australian university, sending and receiving more than 600 exchange students within this framework.

The Cyprus Project Management Society is a non-profit organisation established in February of 2008.

The objective of the Society is to promote international project management standards and techniques in Cyprus and introduce the benefits from the application of the project management culture in companies and the society in general. The effort of the Society entails the institutionalisation of the project management profession in Cyprus through the introduction of international project management standards and techniques and the promotion of accredited project management academic and professional certifications, to students and local professionals.

The Cyprus Project Management Society (CPMS) is the national association in Cyprus of the International Project Management – IPMA (www.ipma.ch), one of the largest project management associations in the world. The IPMA develops its own standards, conducts research and certifies people and companies and is represented by 46 member associations around the world. As a member of the IPMA, the CPMS has participated on a voluntary basis in a number of projects implemented by the IPMA, including a project for enhancing the World Bank’s project management curriculum.
